Marie-Chantal Lamothe was appointed BDC’s Chief Human Resources Officer in 2019.
In this role, she provides leadership and direction to ensure a stimulating employee experience that is aligned with BDC’s overall strategy, purpose and brand. She works closely with the other members of the Senior Management Committee to build and maintain a skilled, diverse and talented workforce that is committed to supporting Canadian entrepreneurs. Marie-Chantal is also responsible for BDC’s DEIA strategy, which is intended to strengthen talent diversity and establish an inclusive, equitable and engaged culture. Through this approach and the wealth of internal perspectives it brings, we are better able to respond to entrepreneurs’ needs.
With more than 30 years of experience in this area, Marie-Chantal has contributed to the full range of human resources functions: change management, organizational development, talent acquisition, training, compensation, succession planning and much more. She is particularly interested in how human resources departments can help organizations adapt and evolve. She has brought this passion to a number of significant technology and organizational transformation initiatives during the course of her career.
Prior to joining BDC, Marie-Chantal held executive positions in the Jean Coutu Group, where she managed teams supporting more than 25,000 employees. She also helped with Metro’s acquisition of the Group. She has held human resources positions in large banking, aerospace and consulting firms such as Laurentian Bank, Bombardier Aerospace and Deloitte.
Marie-Chantal holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from HEC Montréal and a master’s degree in human resources management from Université de Sherbrooke. She is also a certified administrator with an IAS.A designation awarded by the Institut des administrateurs de sociétés. An active member of the Ordre des conseillers en ressources humaines agréés (CRHA) who has been recognized as a Fellow since 2025, she has also established a reputation as a speaker and author.
