Suzanne Trottier joined the BDC Board of Directors in June 2019.
Ms. Trottier brings extensive experience as a senior leader in the Indigenous sector to BDC. Since March 2023, she has been President at First Nations Bank of Canada Trust (FNB Trust) which administers over $5 billion in Indigenous client trust assets. Previously, she held the role of Vice President, Indigenous Trust Services at FNB Trust. In her previous role with the First Nations Financial Management Board (FMB), as Director of Capacity Development (2014 to 2020), she led a team responsible for supporting more than 200 First Nations governments across Canada and helped them build their financial management capacity.
Before joining FMB, Ms. Trottier held several senior positions serving Indigenous communities. She also spent eight years with Ernst & Young Corporate Finance in progressive roles in their Toronto and Montreal offices, most recently as Vice President of Mergers and Acquisitions.
Ms. Trottier also serves as the Chair of the InBC Investment Corporation Board and as Treasurer of the National Aboriginal Trust Officers Association Board.
Ms. Trottier is a Chartered Financial Analyst and holds a Master of Business Administration (Finance) from Western University in Ontario, and a Bachelor of Arts (Sociology) from the University of Manitoba. She also holds an ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors.
Ms. Trottier is a proud member of the Métis Nation B.C. with maternal roots in the Lake Manitoba and Ebb and Flow First Nations.
